DPC setups marked with ⭐ have 100% combined build cover and 100% solve rate.
You must learn these setups in order to always be able to loop using DPC.
Optional setups included because they create the same residue as other setups in this section and have higher scoring in some situations.
Technically the I DPC set provided here is not minimal per se. It has 4 setups while covering sets with 3 setups exist. However, all of those sets up Bad TKI DPC or an even worse. Bad TKI DPC bad, therefore we present a slightly larger set of better setups here instead.
Note that most 8-line setups + recoveries only require you to learn the easier O and S DPC, and occasionally T DPC. Check what you need to learn before starting.
O DPC
O DPC is symmetrical and therefore can be mirrored. Mirroring is not necessary for O DPC build cover.
You can often choose from both setups to build.
O DPC is essential for most 8L/2nd PC setups. Learn O DPC.

Residue congruent with S O<S - Kuruma DPC.
Sometimes you can get an extra Tetris solve using this funny spin sequence involving 180 (doesn't work on high gravity unless you bind two rotations to one key):
Fig: Kuruma DPC funny spin.
Can be mirrored.
If you place O in the other position instead, you can build the setup with O<Z dependency instead.
Actual dependency with mirror is O<J/L/S/Z.
Better for VS, speed, low KPP, low softdrop rate, b2b, consistency, and when followed up by Gamushiro & friends 8L (because it boosts the TST score).
Worse for Blitz, high gravity, average setup score, high PPB Ultra, and when followed up by 1st PC/Jigsaw.

Lime DPC is bad and should be avoided at all costs. Solves are complicated and average scoring is low. Unfortunately, Lime DPC is needed due to build cover. The only alternative (Elephant DPC) known at the time of writing (November 2022) is even more complicated.
Knowing only minimals might get you in a tight spot sometimes with Lime DPC. It's not a bad idea to know more solves. Here are all the unique solves: unique ↗️
(O<S - TSD DPC)
Optional setup. Included because it makes congruent with O J<O - TSD DPC and because it scores higher in certain situations.
This can be used in place of O O<S - Kuruma DPC.

I DPC
I DPC is symmetrical and therefore can be mirrored. You must mirror for I DPC build cover.
I DPC isn't needed for some 8L/2nd PC setups. Check whether you need to learn this or not.
⭐ O<I - Fake Butter

J can be spun in after second I has been placed. Z can be spun in after LS has been placed.

Shares I placement with J<O,Z<S - Stick DPC. Place I piece based on J<O or L<O, then decide setup based on S<Z or Z<S.
Funny setup. Build and solve order as sometimes wacky. L can be kicked in after J and Z have been placed:
Fig: Funny setup spin.
TSS Mushroom solves: J can be kicked in after L has been placed:

Solves will sometimes clear top lines first.
Extra solves: S piece can be kicked in after box has been placed:

(J<IL,O<Z Kuruma DPC*)
* optional setup. Mentioning here because it's congruent with O and S DPC setups, has good build rate, fast solves and scores higher than the four covering setups.
Only learn this if you're going for high PPB. I DPC is already complicated as it is.
Setup
PC% | TSD% | TSS+% | Tet% | bad% |
---|---|---|---|---|
100.00% | 0.00% | 0.00% | 82.78% | 17.22% |
Check O or S DPC for solves.
Can mirror.
J DPC
In general, J DPC is pretty bad. The goal is to easily and quickly get through J DPC and resume looping.
Many high scoring setups exist, but build order is wacky. Instead, we use a pair of SPCs in order to make J DPC simple while retaining decent score.
J DPC isn't needed for some 8L/2nd PC setups. Check whether you need to learn this or not.
⭐ S<Z - MKO SPC
Setup
PC% | TSD% | TSS+% | Tet% | bad% |
---|---|---|---|---|
100.00% | 0.00% | 55.24% | 0.00% | 44.76% |

5-line solve after TSMS. Makes up for lost score from only doing TSMS by possible b2b TSS+Tet solve.
TSMS can be performed before second J overhang was placed.
When J overhang has been placed, T piece needs a series of spins involving 180 to get in place:
Fig: TSMS J SPC spin sequence.
Solves will sometimes clear top lines first.
T DPC
T DPC is symmetrical and therefore can be mirrored. Mirroring is not necessary for T DPC build cover.
In general, T DPC is pretty bad. The goal is to easily and quickly get through T DPC and resume looping.
Due to bad parity, high scoring T DPCs pretty much don't exist. Instead, we use a SPC in order to make T DPC simple while retaining decent score.
T DPC is sometimes necessary for recovery from 8L/2nd PC setups.
⭐ OSZ Ball SPC
Setup
PC% | TSD% | TSS+% | Tet% | bad% |
---|---|---|---|---|
100.00% | 0.00% | 0.00% | 71.67% | 28.33% |

Extra (3)
Does not need mirror. This SPC is the only setup you'll need to remember for T DPC.
Tet solve chance can be improved by this sequence of S spins involving 180 once JLZ have been placed (partial mirror works for Z with JLS:
Fig: OSZ Ball SPC spin sequence. Grey ▄█▄ shows piece orientation for clarity.
(J<OZ - MKO DPC*)
Optional setup. Included because it makes congruent with J S<Z - MKO SPC and because it scores higher and is easier to solve than T - OSZ Ball SPC.
Setup
PC% | TSD% | TSS+% | Tet% | bad% |
---|---|---|---|---|
100.00% | 0.00% | 55.24% | 0.00% | 44.76% |

Residue congruent with extra J S<Z - MKO SPC.
The only good T DPC.
Can mirror. Build as shown for J<OZ, mirror for L<OS.
